Our Nursery Vision and Ethos is Nurture… Learn…. Grow!

Nurture – We provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for our children. Happiness and Well being are at the core of our values.

Learn – We provide high quality play experiences where children can enjoy learning and have fun! We want children to become great learners and have high expectations for all of our children.

Grow – We nurture and support the aspirations of our children, working together with parents to support each child to strive and reach their full potential. We aim to support children to be confident to venture and explore the world around them.

The Wise Owl Day Nursery is set within half an acre of land with a spacious enclosed playground and grassed area which overlooks the open countryside. The nursery is run by qualified Early Years Practitioners and an Early Years Teacher to Supervise and care for your children. We are committed to developing a reputation for excellent childcare for children from 3 months to 11 years old, including those needing special care. We welcome all parents to come and discuss your child’s individual needs with us.

We offer an interesting and varied range of play and learning experiences in a stimulating and friendly environment whilst catering for individual preferences. Our aim is to provide exciting learning opportunities and experiences that promote the all-round development of children, both socially and educationally. We promote learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors and our outdoor area includes a soft play surface, other textured services, covers and canopies. This will ensure that children can enjoy learning and playing outside all year round.

Alongside the nursery we also run an out of school club and provide a daily transport service to and from the Nursery to our 2 local feeder schools – Werrington Primary School and St John’s Primary School, Wetley Rocks. A timetable for events and activities is available during non-term time and we welcome all children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. Additionally, we provide wrap around care for children using their 15 hours’ government funding at Werrington Primary School.

The nursery is open 51 weeks of the year, Monday-Friday, excluding bank holidays. CCTV is fitted throughout the main nursery building. All rooms have CCTV installed except for the bathroom, nappy changing area and kitchen area.

We offer transport before and after school to our local feeder schools – Werrington Primary School, Werrington and St John’s Primary School, Wetley Rocks.

Each Morning the school children receive a choice of Toast, Cereal and fruit for their breakfast. Milk and water are also offered at this time.

Children receive either a hot or cold meal when they arrive back at the club after school. There is a varied set menu to ensure a well-balanced diet.

The after school club is based in the ‘Farm’ building which is separate to the nursery building, with its own toilets and wash facilities.

The Out of School Club area offers a calm and relaxed environment for the children to enjoy and relax after a busy day at school. There is a computer and play station available for use, as well as restricted internet access.

Children have access to arts and craft materials, a variety of games and activities and a home corner area with dolls etc.

During the school holidays we provide a ‘Holiday Club’ which has a variety of trips and activities for children, such as Hanley Park, Pizza Hut, Trentham Gardens, West Midlands Safari Park, Bowling, Cinema etc. Before each holiday period our Out of School Club children are consulted on preferred activities. All children under the age of 11 years old are welcome to attend our Holiday Club, it is not exclusive to children that attend our Out of School club.

All of our meals and snacks are freshly prepared at the nursery using fresh ingredients. Food and nutrients help to form strong teeth and bones, muscles and a healthy body. Between the ages of one and four is a crucial time for learning good dietary habits.

Our menu is on a 4 weekly Rota which is changed according to the season. If you would like a copy of our current menu then please ask a member of staff.

In June 2012 The Wise Owl Nursery was awarded the Silver Award in the Nurturing Health Award. This was presented to us by Staffordshire County Council. Our Kitchen also holds a 5 Star Hygiene rating
