Our Nursery Ethos is Nurture … Learn…Grow!

Nurture – We provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for our children. Happiness and Well being are at the core of our values.

Learn – we provide high quality play experiences where children can enjoy learning and have fun! We want children to become great learners and we have high expectations for all our children.

Grow – We nurture and support the aspirations of our children, working together with parents to support each child to strive and reach their full potential. We aim to support children to be confident to venture and explore the world around them.

The Wise Owl Day Nursery is set within half an acre of land with a spacious enclosed playground and grassed area that overlooks the open countryside. The nursery is run by skilled Early Years Practitioners, Early Years Teachers and two staff members with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We are committed to providing excellent childcare for children from 3 months – 11 years old. We welcome all parents to come and discuss your child’s individual needs with us.

At the Wise Owl Nursery we believe that children need a balance of nurturing, security, stimulation and endless opportunities to discover what they can do. We believe that learning is fun and is something that children should want to be a part of.

Our key worker approach to planning focuses on how each child learns and we have high expectations for each of our children. We want children to become great learners, igniting their curiosity for learning by providing fun, exciting and new opportunities. We support children to be confident to venture and explore the world around them, independently or with others.

We value our partnership with parents, working together to support each child to strive and reach their full potential. We want each and every staff member, parent and child to value and to feel valued and this is embedded in our nursery family and what we do.

Alongside the nursery we run an out of school club, providing daily transport to and from Werrington Primary School. A timetable of activities and events is available during the school holidays and we welcome all children from reception age to 11 years old. We also provide wrap around care for those children attending Werrington Primary School’s nursery.

The nursery is open for 51 weeks of year Monday – Friday, excluding bank holidays.

We offer transport before and after school to our local feeder schools – Werrington Primary School, Werrington and St John’s Primary School, Wetley Rocks.

Each Morning the school children receive a choice of Toast, Cereal and fruit for their breakfast. Milk and water are also offered at this time.

Children receive either a hot or cold meal when they arrive back at the club after school. There is a varied set menu to ensure a well-balanced diet.

The after school club is based in the ‘Farm’ building which is separate to the nursery building, with its own toilets and wash facilities.

The Out of School Club area offers a calm and relaxed environment for the children to enjoy and relax after a busy day at school.

During the school holidays we provide a ‘Holiday Club’ which has a variety of trips and activities for children, such as Hanley Park, Pizza Hut, Trentham Gardens, West Midlands Safari Park, Bowling, Cinema etc. Before each holiday period our Out of School Club children are consulted on preferred activities. All children under the age of 11 years old are welcome to attend our Holiday Club, it is not exclusive to children that attend our Out of School club.

All of our meals and snacks are freshly prepared at the nursery using fresh ingredients. Food and nutrients help to form strong teeth and bones, muscles and a healthy body. Between the ages of one and four is a crucial time for learning good dietary habits.

Our menu is on a 4 weekly Rota which is changed according to the season. If you would like a copy of our current menu then please ask a member of staff.

In June 2012 The Wise Owl Nursery was awarded the Silver Award in the Nurturing Health Award. This was presented to us by Staffordshire County Council. Our Kitchen also holds a 5 Star Hygiene rating
